18-9 The Machine - Butterfly EP (KAT047)
A1 Butterfly (6:00)
A2 Rebellious (5:37)
B1 Spirits (6:14)
B2 All Is Mine (5:41)
Todays vinyl is a lovely 4 tracker from or lithuanian friend, The Machine, member of the Hard Onez.
The a1 Contains Butterfly, the best track of the vinyl in my eyes. It got spinned by a lot of deejays when it came out, the best i can remember is DBSTF at Q-base 07!
It had a really rough bassline and a nice melody, i believe i read somewhere that mr The machine makes his basses out of hardcore kicks * edit* he responded to me, telling me that in this track it isnt that way, he sometimes does it but not at this track, he said "actually in butterfly it is a gated bassdrum + reverse bass which i made on Subtractor synthesizer (when i used to produce on Reason 3)"*edit*, and they are damn lovely! This track has a great mid, and the climax kicks & bass are really great i think.
The a2 is Rebellious not a very well known track, but i think its almost as good as butterfly, i actually heard it a lot on my mp3 player! Good track too, but not such a big hit as Butterfly was.
B1 contains Spirits, didnt listen this one a lot, but i like the melody! The kicks are firstly not as rough as the a-side, but later on in the track i believe its the second climax they come in again! For me it sounds like this track is done kinda fast, not as detailed as the other tracks. But i really love the trick he used at the place where the end mid comes in, good production skills this guy got!
B2 contains All is mine, i think this one is the worst on this vinyl, its kinda in the same style as the rest, but just not as energetic if you ask me. I dunno what it is what makes this track less nice in my eyes, but i just dont like the synth/ melody he used. Its a good variation on the vinyl, but not my kind of stuff.
